I guess this is the right area to post this in. This is my first post.

Something I've been thinking about a lot.

There are electronic high tech devices that could be used on all of our borders with Mexico and Canada. I do not even know all the latest technical devices that could be employed to do the patrolling of our borders, but I know they exist.

In other words, our state governments and our national government right now have the money and the technology to perfectly keep our borders patrolled electronically 24 /7.

But no one wants to talk about this. But this fact colors my whole outlook on "fixes" for the illegal immigration problem.

The electronic high-tech solution to stopping illegal entries is something that is DELIBERATELY not employed. Why?

I will now paste in below an example of some electronic technology that is apparently in use now in Texas. But I am really talking about something that is managed and monitored by the Border Control, not concerned citizens.

CHECK OUT: BLUESERVO

The Texas Border Sheriff's Coalition (TBSC) has joined BlueServoSMin a public-private partnership to deploy the Virtual Community Watch,an innovative real-time surveillance program designed to empower thepublic to proactively participate in fighting border crime.

The TBSC BlueServoSM Virtual Community WatchSM is a network of cameras and sensors along the Texas-Mexico border that feeds live streaming video to www.BlueServo.net. Users will log in to the BlueServoSM website and directly monitor suspicious criminal activity along the border via this virtual fenceSM.

Citizens can sign up as Virtual Texas DeputiesSM to participate in border surveillance through this social network. Virtual Texas DeputiesSMfrom around the country will monitor the streaming video from thesecameras 24/7 and report any suspicious activities directly to theBorder Sheriffs via email. All emails regarding suspicious activitywill be submitted anonymously.

Hi Dachsie,

Welcome to the FIRE FORUM! I agree that technology can be a powerful tool to help the government efficiently monitor the border (if it's done well.

I want to caution though, that no border solution will be effective unless we have our military patrolling the border as we do for South Korea. Any solution short of that just enables a revolving door at the border. Any deportations will be ineffective because history and data shows that the illegal aliens will come right back.

So the mandatory components of effective border control are:

1) physical barrier
2) military patrolling

everything else is gravy and just helps get the job done.

I'm a member on the blueservo site and the bad thing about it is that by the time you see something and report it, it takes the Border Patrol a while to get there, and a lot of the time the ativity is over.
The solution that I heard and liked was that the government said that it would take 750 million dollars to find and deport all the illegal aliens so it wasn't monetarily feasible. The thing is , it costs us 850 million in taxpayer dollars to pay for the illegals each year, so why not go ahead and use the 750 million? We'd still be 100 million ahead.

Not to mention that we just commited $700 Billion dollars that we don't have either. When it comes to the bankers that line the politicians wallets, we'll spend the money, but not when it comes to the safety and security of the American citizen. Disgusting.

Why are we spending so much money that we don't have anyway? They really need to sit down and consider everything. We're headed straight for a depression at the rate they're going and it looks as though they don't care.
