Senator Barack Obama, during the Presidential campaign commented that proponents of the 2nd Amendment were "clinging to their guns and religion."

Attorney General Eric Holder announced the Obama Administration wants to reinstitute the Assault Weapons Ban which expired in 2004. The Attorney General stated "I think that will have a positive impact in Mexico, at a minimum."

According to the ABC News story linked above, U.S. Attorney General Holder said "that putting the ban back in place would not only be a positive move by the United States, it would help cut down on the flow of guns going across the border into Mexico, which is struggling with heavy violence among drug cartels along the border."

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton chimed in on March 25, 2009 with "Our insatiable demand for illegal drugs fuels the drug trade. Our inability to prevent weapons from being illegally smuggled across the border to arm these criminals causes the death of police officers, soldiers and civilians,"according to Reuters.

Really? Let me get this straight. The United States consists of over 3.5 million square miles. We're supposed to believe that the best way to end the drug war in Mexico and stop guns from being shipped to Mexico is to ban them in the United States?

Besides being absurd, it is un-Constitutional.

The 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution clearly states:

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms , shall not be infringed."

 Are we to believe that since the President and the Congress have chosen to ignore Article IV, Section 4 of the Constitution, which by the way, guarantees us protection against invasion, that we should also give up our 2nd Amendment rights?

Is this the "change we can believe in, or need?" Absolutely not! If the President wants to uphold his oath, and the Congress wants to help him by upholding theirs for a change we can believe in, then perhaps securing the border makes more sense.

Securing the 2000 miles of our southern border instead of disarming the lawful citizens of 3.5 million square miles makes more sense. The hypocrisy of suggesting we should give up our guns or our religion is outrageous. Congressman Tom Tancredo started the Immigration Reform Caucus a few years ago because of his concerns about the threats to our sovereignty that illegal immigration and an unsecure border posed to our safety, sovereignty, and national security.

In a phone conversation last night, Tancredo, who now heads up The Rocky Mountain Foundation agreed that securing our border with Mexico would not only greatly curtail the flow of drugs heading north, but would also greatly reduce the flow of guns and cash headed south. However, that's not the whole story according to Tancredo. 

The main argument Obama, Clinton, and Holder are using to promote ignoring the 2nd Amendment doesn't hold water. "The Mexican government refuses to give us the serial numbers of the guns they confiscate from drug cartel members," Tancredo said. Tancredo went on to say the reason for this is that "most of these guns don't come from the U.S.

In fact, just since the year 2000, over 120,000 soldiers in the Mexican Army have deserted, many of them taking their guns with them. I suggested to the former Congressman that "If we outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns." He agreed.

Thomas Jefferson said,

"The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government."

 Jefferson, author of the Declaration of Independence, also said:

"When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty."

 President Obama is attempting to disarm the American people. He is planning a national police force for the coming "police state" Obama wants his Gestapo to be as large and well-funded as our military. This will be necessary to quash all those who still believe in the Constitution, liberty, and freedom from tyranny.

Cling to your guns, your religion, and your Constitution, or in just a few short years, you will lose them all. "In God We Trust..." we MUST. There is only one Messiah, and He doesn't reside at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
